CAN-Uganda started over 25 support groups to address the education needs, welfare
needs of the orphans and widows/widowers in Uganda. CAN have a total of
about 500 widows. Counseling is conducted on regular basis and we also teach the
people living with HIV/AIDS and orphans to make handcrafts and many other
skills that could help them to earn some money for their families. And it
is our commitment to look for market for their handcraft. We have
given out piglets to groups of widows as a start up towards project of
self-support. We identify
widows and orphans mostly in need of services through local or community
leaders, church leaders, affected family groups and home visiting.
